Commuter Raccoon

There's such a special misery in commuting during Chicago winters. It's frigid and blustery walking to the train and if you inhale at the wrong moment it feels like your lungs will freeze and shatter. Everyone's sweaty, sardined onto the Red Line in their ankle-length puffer coats, but there's no room to take off and carry your ankle-length puffer coat. It was dark when you walked to the train this morning, and it will be dark long before you walk back from the train after work. But maybe, just maybe, if you get yourself a little treat at the Clark and Belmont Shitty Target, you can have an okay time.

Not a good time, you're not unreasonable. But just an okay time. That'll do.

I miss buying little treats at the Clark and Belmont Shitty Target, but I can't say I miss the commute.
